💌 2 cool things happening this week (and you're invited)

1-minute read

Someone once asked the Buddha skeptically, “What have you gained through meditation?”

The Buddha replied, “Nothing at all.”

“But, let me tell you what I lost through meditation:

sickness, anger, depression, insecurity, the burden of old age, the fear of death."

Ok.

Should this be of any interest, Reader, here there are a couple of opportunities for us to explore mindfulness together this week.

You've probably heard the word "mindfulness" floating around, but what does it really mean?

📌 London E17, Yonder Studio

💰 30 £

  • 2 hours of teachings, plenty of practice, sharing and Q&A
  • a lovely space, props and tea provided 🍵
  • Leave with your mind and heart full of new insights (:

For the past 10 years, I’ve explored the world of mainstream, secular mindfulness: neuroscience, stress reduction, attention training and the “3 breaths before your next meeting” stuff.

It served as an entry door, but it was clear that it wasn’t the full picture.

So, a few years ago, I started asking myself:

🤔 Where does mindfulness actually fit in Buddhism?
🤔 How much of what we practice today is a Western remix?
🤔 How much of what we practice has been lost in translation?

That’s when I dove into the Theravāda and Zen traditions.

This workshop is a collection of the “AHA!” moments I picked up along the way.

💡 We’ll explore the traditional Four Establishments of Mindfulness, with a focus on mindfulness of the body.
💡 You’ll experience a light movement practice (no yoga skills needed), contemplative practices like mindful eating, and yes—some juicy Buddhist reflections on impermanence, including asubha (aka, the less Insta-friendly sides of being human).
💡 You’re welcome to take what resonates and lovingly leave the rest.

The space is beautiful.

Props, tea, and love are provided.

Whether you’re brand new or bringing years of practice, come exactly as you are.

Like always, thank you for reading.

P.S. If you enjoy my newsletter and feel like sharing some love, you can leave a contribution here.

Wishing you all a lovely start to your week and hope you see you there!
