Okay, this is weird... 👀

2-minute read

I've got a confession to make, Reader.

Here it comes:

The sun is giving me anxiety.

And the weirdest part?

I’m pretty sure mindfulness is to blame.

Let me explain:

☀️ There’s a bit of FOMO like, I should be outside! I should be rolling in daisies like a Disney princess on a sugar high! Why am I indoors?!

🔥 I grew up in Italy, so you’d think I’d be a sun-powered solar panel, but nope. My body has officially adapted to the nortern weather (fair after 7 years in Berlin + 2 in London, and thank you body, for that). Now, the moment I start overheating, my brain goes, ALERT! SYSTEM OVERLOAD! and It gets mistaken for anxiety.

🧘‍♀️ And then there's my mindfulness practice, making me painfully aware of it all:

The physical sensations, the emotional friction, and the fact that the sunshine outside is blinking at me and seducing me away from my to-do list.
Which, in turn, causes aversion.

And then the shame spiral: Who on EARTH gets anxious about the SUN, MARIA? Pull yourself together! Are you really going to say it out loud?

So, Your Honor, Reader, I present my case:

Mindfulness is making me anxious.

There, I said it.
Not the best sales pitch for a mindfulness teacher, huh?

But hear me out.

If you're thinking, Why should I even practice mindfulness if it’s just going to make me feel more feelings?! Yes, I GET IT.

And this is my experience:

Mindfulness will make you a happier, more grounded person… but first, it will suck HARD.

Because it forces you to see yourself in the mirror clearly.

And sometimes, that means uncovering things you don’t love (or things that are just objectively weird—like SUN ANXIETY).

But awareness is necessary.

If I didn’t realize this was about the sun, I could’ve easily misplaced that restlessness onto my work, my relationships, or made some life changes just to shake things up (been there, done that).

But nope. It’s just the sun. And it belongs.
And now that I can see it, I get to work with it.

The goal isn’t to eliminate anxiety.

It’s to see it with clarity and get really, really good at navigating it.

🪷 [IN PERSON] Intro to Minduflness Meditation Afternoon Workshop

📅 Sunday 14/04, 2-4:30 PM

This is a happiness workshop.

We'll delve into the heart of mindfulness, discovering its origins and exploring how it's relevant to our everyday lives.

You've probably heard the word "mindfulness" from me or floating around, but what does it really mean? Where did it come from, and how do we actually do it? We'll explore these questions together.

We'll also look at the foundational "four establishments of mindfulness", a traditional framework for understanding and practicing mindfulness. We'll focus particularly on the first establishment, mindfulness of the body, and have a movement practice.

If you joined the online course, yes! You can definitely join this workshop, too. The content will be different.

Where? The stunning Yonder Studio space in London E17. Yoga props provided, café on-site, climbing walls & co-working space if you fancy making a day of it.
